In medieval Japan, eight-year-old Hojo Tokiyuki is the heir to the Kamakura shogunate. But the Hojo clan is in decline, and Tokiyukiās peaceful days of playing hide-and-seek with his teachers come to an abrupt end when his clan is betrayed from within. The lone survivor of his family, Tokiyuki is the rightful heir to the throne, but to take it back, heāll have to do what he does bestārun away!
In the midst of the battle with Moronaoās forces, Tokiyuki crosses swords with Fubuki, his former retainer. Despite their old friendship, Fubuki is no longer the comrade Tokiyuki once knew, and is determined to not only destroy Tokiyuki, but to take over the Ashikaga as well! Elsewhere, Akiie launches a brilliant maneuver to outflank Moronao. But even if it succeeds, can Akiieās exhausted army take on Takaujiās fresh reinforcements?
